Sarah was born and raised deep in the heart of Texas to teacher parents. She received a BA in Cultural Anthropology at Boston University. During her time there she studied in the Philippines and Niger, where she had the fortune to work alongside farmers organizing for sustainable and fair food systems. She then worked as a farmer and educator at bio-dynamic and organic farms for seven years in Rhode Island, Philadelphia, Skagit Valley and Mexico City - and also taught farming and gardening at the Seattle Waldorf School - before moving to stay here in the Twin Cities. She is in school to get a MA in Education with a concentration in Social Studies at Goddard College, focusing her studies on ethnic studies, social justice and folk arts curriculum. When Sarah's not at Avalon, she's trying to get to the 30+ skating night at Roller Garden and be outside as much as possible.
