David first came to the Twin Cities from Washington State in 2000 to teach art at a Boys & Girls Club in St. Paul. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2004 with a B.A. in Studio Arts, he felt it was necessary to work and travel abroad for “a few years”. Eight years later, he’s back. Having taught English as a foreign language in The Czech Republic, Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City and Danang), Seattle, Japan and France, he finally found himself back in 2011 in order to get his Masters in Art Education at the University of Minnesota (again). Lucky for him he heard about Avalon from a good friend and doubly lucky, they were hiring. What attracted him to Avalon was the opportunity to work with all students within an amazing and nurturing atmosphere. 2012-2013 being his first year at Avalon, he is excited to support Avalonians in their artistic endeavors.
